Consultants
play several roles in the RERED Project. Some operate independently,
while others appear on panels maintained by the Administrative Unit
(AU) to undertake ‘standardised’ small assignments. In
addition, consultants (both individuals and firms) are engaged by
the AU from time to time to carry out a variety of specific tasks
to achieve the objectives of the Project.
Examples of small assignments include the role of independent consultants
who perform project preparation activities to assist village communities
set up off-grid electrification schemes through Electricity Consumer
Societies. The AU maintains panels of consultants to verify the design
and technical performance of solar home systems and off-grid village
based schemes for compliance with specifications. The AU also maintains
a panel of consultants to verify compliance of sub-projects with environmental
and social safeguard measures stipulated by the RERED Project.
