Community based
wind power projects have yet to take off on a large scale in Sri Lanka.
The availability of site-specific wind resource assessments is a factor
that may hinder the take off of such projects.
Grant Schemes Available In addition to a project preparation grant of up to US$6,000
paid on the achievement of defined milestones for each project, the
Developer receives an incentive payment of up to US$2,000 for demonstrated
success in achieving agreed economic benefit targets.
The Electricity Consumer Society receives a co-financing grant of
US$400 per kW of installed capacity of the plant, after successful
commissioning of the scheme in accordance with the RERED Project technical
specifications.
